An initiative to repeal most of the workers' compensation reforms enacted over three years in
Among other things, it would reinstate the unlimited right of an injured worker to choose his or her own doctor, eliminate the right of employers to challenge treatment and diagnostic evaluations, and eliminate the need for most pre-approvals for medical treatment of injured workers.
As expected, big business is already on the offensive with the California Chamber of Commerce forming a coalition to fight the measure. Earlier attempts to roll back some of the enacted reforms either lacked legislative support or were vetoed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.
This will be another interesting legislative fight to watch.
